THE FARM
When you opt for luxury 'farmhouse' accommodation it should come as no surprise that Caradoc is a working family farm with acres of pastures that sprawl seawards. It's not the sort of farm with tractors humming around (the only tractors are plastic ones for the kids to drive around the yard) but it is home to lots of farm animals that the family can meet.
Grazing the green fields and national trust coastal land is a flock of black Hebridean sheep that are used to make fleece blankets. The large flat cliff-top pasture also makes perfect grazing for a gaggle of more than 200 free-range geese. The fields here have never had any kind of agrochemical treatment and have always been kept as natural pasture so they make the perfect rearing ground for this Legarth strain of geese that are renowned for their superior table quality. Home-reared geese are available to order, and Hugo the chef can create a goose banquet for any special occasion dinner.
